Before you start

  • A business with its website saved in Connections.
  • The website addresses of a few competitors, for example the businesses that come up on Google or Maps for your main service.

Set it up, step by step

  1. Choose the business at the top of the menu and open Competitors (under Grow).
  2. Type a competitor’s website (for example competitor.com.au) and choose Add competitor. Repeat for up to five.
  3. Wait for the comparison. Google’s speed test takes about 30 seconds per website the first time.
  4. Read the two charts (speed score and website health, your site in blue) and the Side by side table.

Open Competitors →

In the dashboard menu: Grow → Competitors.

How to use it

Look for rows where competitors have a tick and you don’t, such as Business details for Google or Tap-to-call. Those are the quickest wins.

Results are kept for a day. Use the refresh button to check again after you or they change something. Remove a competitor with the bin icon.

What the results mean

Only public information is used: each website’s home page, sitemap and Google’s PageSpeed test.

It shows what a competitor does better on their website. It does not show who ranks higher on Google; that needs paid ranking data.

Pages in sitemap is a rough size guide. A dash means the sitemap couldn’t be read or lists other sitemaps.

If something goes wrong

A competitor shows dashes

Their website may block automated checks or have been slow to respond. Try the refresh button later.

It won’t add my own website

Your own website is always shown first as Your website, so it can’t be added as a competitor.
