Get website alerts when something goes wrong

Switch on Alerts and AAA Signal checks your website every hour to make sure it loads, and every day for drops in Google clicks, pages falling out of Google, a lower speed score or a new problem on your home page.

Get an email when your website breaks

Your website goes down at two in the morning. Who finds out first? You do. A short narrated walkthrough using an example report: Open Alerts, Check this website, Email me alerts, Recent alerts.

Figures and account details shown are from an example report, not customer results. Hosted by AAA Signal, so nothing loads from YouTube. Watching doesn't connect an account or change your settings.

Before you start

  • A business with its website saved in Connections.
  • For email alerts: a verified sign-in email. For traffic-drop alerts: Search Console connected.

Set it up, step by step

  1. Choose the business at the top of the menu and open Alerts (under Your website).
  2. Tick Check this website. The hourly up-check and daily checks start within the hour.
  3. Tick Email me alerts to get an email when something needs attention. It goes to your verified sign-in email.
  4. Optional: choose Check now to run every check straight away and set a starting point.

Open Alerts →

In the dashboard menu: Your website → Alerts.

How to use it

Recent alerts lists the last 30 alerts with the date and whether an email was sent. Each one says what changed and where to look next.

Turn alerts on for each business you want checked. Untick Check this website to stop them at any time.

What the results mean

Website not loading: your home page failed two checks an hour apart. Back up: it loads again.

Google clicks dropped: last 7 days were at least 40% below the 7 days before (only when the week before had 20 or more clicks).

Pages dropped out of Google: your saved Site indexing scan shows pages that were indexed and now aren’t.

Speed score fell: Google’s phone speed score dropped 15 points or more since the last weekly test. Website health fell: the home-page check dropped 15 points or a new serious problem appeared.

Checks can be delayed and can miss problems. They are a helpful early warning, not a replacement for your web host’s own monitoring.

If something goes wrong

Email me alerts can’t be ticked

Verify your sign-in email and tick Check this website first. If it says email sending isn’t set up, contact support.

I got a “not loading” alert but my site works

Your host may have been briefly down or blocking our check. If it keeps happening, ask your host whether they block automated checks.

Check now says try again later

Check now can run once an hour. The automatic checks keep running in the background.
