Ask ChatGPT about your website
Ask ChatGPT how your website's going. Seriously. A short narrated walkthrough using an example report: Open AI assistants, Add it in ChatGPT, Approve your websites, Ask away.

Figures and account details shown are from an example report, not customer results. Hosted by AAA Signal, so nothing loads from YouTube. Watching doesn't connect an account or change your settings.
Before you start
- Connect Google and save at least one enabled website in AAA Signal.
- A ChatGPT plan and workspace that permits custom MCP connections with OAuth Client ID Metadata Documents (CIMD). Menus and availability vary; this is not a public app-directory listing.
Set it up, step by step
- In the ChatGPT interface shown in this guide, open Plugins, then Add → Add custom MCP server. Some accounts place Plugins under Settings. Labels and availability vary by plan and workspace.
- Name: AAA Signal Live. Optional description: Read-only website reports, SEO guidance and action briefings. Choose Server URL and enter https://aaasignal.com.au/assistant/mcp. Choose OAuth authentication. No Google password, Google API key or Resend key belongs in this form.
- Open Advanced OAuth settings. Select Client Identifier Metadata Document (CIMD). The client metadata URL should be https://chatgpt.com/oauth/client.json. Keep the automatically discovered callback URL unchanged.
- The orange/red “DCR is unavailable until a Registration URL is present” box is a notice, not an input. CIMD does not need DCR. Leave Registration URL empty; https://example.com is placeholder text, not a value to enter.
- Under Default scopes, keep reports:read checked. Under Base scopes, enter reports:read and offline_access on separate lines, or enter reports:read,offline_access. Do not put both values on one line separated only by a space: the form labels this field as one value per line or comma-separated.
- Check the discovered endpoints: Auth URL https://aaasignal.com.au/oauth/authorize; Token URL https://aaasignal.com.au/oauth/token; Authorization server base https://aaasignal.com.au; Resource https://aaasignal.com.au/assistant/mcp. Leave OpenID support (OIDC enabled) unchecked and its fields untouched.
- Close the Advanced settings panel using its top-right ×. Read the custom-server acknowledgement on the main form, tick it if you agree, and choose Create as a plugin.
- If the approval screen opens, sign in to AAA Signal, check the publisher and return host are chatgpt.com, select only the businesses you want to share, and choose Allow selected businesses. Finish the return to ChatGPT.
- Confirm that tools are available and make a real read-only test: ask “Using AAA Signal Live, list my approved businesses.” Verify the names match your selection. Then ask for an action briefing for one business. A plugin entry, permission setting or approval page alone is not proof the connection works.
- In AAA Signal, open AI assistants to review or revoke access. Approvals expire after 30 days. Reconnect if needed; revoking stops future calls but does not delete content already saved in chats.
In the dashboard menu: Advanced tools → AI assistants (click Advanced tools to open that section).
How to use it
Try: “Show my approved businesses”, “What changed this week and what should I check?”, or “Which channels recorded my selected enquiry event?”.
The assistant can read reports, practical briefings, saved indexing results and workspace records. It cannot edit tasks, publish website changes, start scans, submit sitemaps, change tracking, send emails or manage billing.
What the results mean
Only selected enabled businesses are shared. Each approval can be revoked, and existing tokens are checked against the approval on every report request.
Google credentials are never returned to the assistant. Report content shared with ChatGPT is handled by OpenAI under the terms and data controls of your ChatGPT account. Use appropriate settings before sharing private reporting data.
Connecting a custom app does not list AAA Signal publicly or guarantee that ChatGPT recommends it over other services. Prefer Claude? See the Claude guide.
If something goes wrong
The DCR notice is red or orange
Keep CIMD selected and Registration URL empty. DCR is an alternative registration method; the notice does not ask you to supply a URL.
No tools available, zero tools, or Try in chat / Connect is disabled
The plugin is saved but has not demonstrated a working report connection. Do not repeatedly recreate it or change unrelated Google settings. Contact support with a redacted screenshot and the attempt time including your timezone. Support must check the authorization exchange and tool discovery. Refresh tools or reconnect only if that action is available; uninstalling is not a confirmed fix. Copy a report summary from AAA Signal in the meantime.
Request origin is not allowed, or approval says to restart
A browser policy that blocked the return to ChatGPT was identified and corrected on 16 October 2026. Do not resubmit the old error page. Start a fresh connection from ChatGPT if its interface permits, then approve the intended businesses again. If it repeats, report the exact error and time to support. Never send the full OAuth address bar URL, which can contain temporary authorization information.
ChatGPT does not offer CIMD or custom connections
Availability depends on plan, workspace policy and interface. Do not paste credentials to work around it. Use Copy summary in AAA Signal while wider connection support is developed.
My connection expired or was revoked
Start the connection again and approve the intended websites. Check that Google is still connected and the websites are within your plan allowance.
A website is missing
The connection only sees the businesses selected at approval and currently enabled in AAA Signal. Reconnect to approve a different selection.
