Figures and account details shown are from an example report, not customer results. Hosted by AAA Signal, so nothing loads from YouTube. Watching doesn't connect an account or change your settings.
Before you start
- Connect Google and select the correct properties.
- For progress comparisons, save live snapshots in Report studio before and after your work.
Set it up, step by step
- Open Your next steps and refresh a complete reporting period. The action briefing shows report alerts and up to three useful next actions.
- Review the figures behind each alert. Click Add to SEO workboard to save an action deliberately; refreshing does not create tasks automatically.
- Use the guided platform checklist for WordPress, Shopify, Wix or a developer-managed website. These are general directions and do not publish edits.
- For delivery, open Email reports, preview the weekly message and opt in with your preferred schedule. Briefings are included in those weekly emails. For alert emails when something goes wrong, use Alerts.
- In Report studio, save a baseline. Later save a report with the same period length, business, properties and enquiry event. Select earlier and later snapshots in Compare progress; reporting periods must not overlap.
How to use it
Search click alerts require at least 30 previous clicks, a loss of at least 10 and a drop of at least 25%. Visibility alerts require 100 previous impressions, a loss of 50 and a 30% drop.
Visitor alerts require 50 previous active users, a loss of 20 and a 30% drop. An enquiry check is raised when a selected event falls from at least five occurrences to zero while visitors are recorded.
Missing data and setup gaps are labelled separately from traffic declines. A zero previous value has no meaningful percentage change.
What the results mean
Report alerts in Your next steps are checked when a report is refreshed and when an opted-in weekly email is prepared. For hourly “is my website up?” checks and daily emails about drops, switch on Website alerts in Alerts. Google data ends three days ago.
Thresholds reduce noise but cannot diagnose a cause or catch every problem. A report with no threshold alerts is not proof of a healthy site.
Before-and-after figures show association, not attribution. Seasonality, demand, other edits and Google reporting can affect results. Enquiry events are not unique customers or confirmed sales.
If something goes wrong
A large percentage drop did not raise an alert
Check the absolute counts and previous-period availability. Thresholds intentionally suppress very small baselines and missing comparisons.
My snapshots cannot be compared
Choose two live reports for the same business, Search Console and Analytics properties, enquiry event and period length, with the earlier period ending before the later begins.
I expected an immediate alert email
Report alerts in Your next steps arrive with your weekly email. To get an email soon after your site goes down or drops in Google, open Alerts and switch on Check this website and Email me alerts.
Keep going
- Get website alerts when something goes wrong
- Set up, read and troubleshoot weekly email reports
- Organise SEO tasks and dated notes
- Measure successful enquiries, not just clicks
